She was born November 2, 1931 in Wharncliffe, W.Va., to Magdalene Johnson Osborne and the late William Wolford.
Besides her father, Joyce was preceded in death by one son, William Ray Cantrell; one brother, William Wolford Jr.; a maternal grandfather, Jake Johnson and one niece, Karen Johnson.
Joyce was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness.
Friends may call at the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church at Wharncliffe on Wednesday, March 25, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, John Cantrell of Wharncliffe, W.Va.; two sons, David and Matthew Cantrell, both of Wharncliffe, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Natalie Cantrell of Liberty, N.C.; her mother, Magdalene Osborne of Wharncliffe, W.Va.; her grandmother, Cordia Osborne of Wharncliffe, W.Va.; four sisters, Velma (Stewart) Johnson and Murlene (James) Cantrell, both of Wharncliffe, W.Va., Geneva (Lanford) Midkiff and Rita (James) Sears, both of Greenbrier, W.Va.; two brothers, Carter (Deborah) Wolford of Wharncliffe, W.Va., and Drewey (Jeannie) Wolford of Gilbert, W.Va., and a host of other dear family and friends.
Funeral services will take place at the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church at Wharnecliffe, W.Va., Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1 p.m. with reverends Denny May, Diamond Carter and Danny Ward officiating. Burial will folow at the Hatfield Cemetery at Wharncliffe, W.Va., with family and friends acting as pallbearers.
