She was born December 18, 1924 at Lawrence County, Ky. the daughter of the late Jake and Edna Sparks Kitchen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Clifford Smith. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Survivors include one son, James Reuben Smith of Catlettsburg, Ky., two brothers, Orie Kitchen of Flatwoods, Ky. and Charlie “Chuck” Kitchen of Chattaroy, WV,; grandchildren, Jim, Tim and Chris Smith all of Lexington,Ky. and great grandchildren, Brock, Nicci, Sam and Jake Smith all of Lexington, Ky., and two special friends she referred to as her guardian angels, Melody and Norma.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky. with the Rev. Dennis Smith and Rev. Dennis Smith Jr. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, WV.
Visitation will be from 6 till 8 PM Monday at Carmam Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Ky. and from 6 till 8 PM Tuesday at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Ky. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Ky. is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences at www.rerogersfuneralhome.com.
