The Williamson Fire Department and the West Virginia Division of Forestry joined forces to battle a brush fire that got out of control Monday. According to firefighter Stephan Casey, the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined. “Division of Forestry men cut a fire line, and we thought the danger had passed,” Casey said. “But the fire jumped that line, and we are now working to get it under control.” Casey said some houses were near the blaze. The WFD responded to the fire with two trucks. The Division of Forestry provided a helicopter to fight the fire with water from nearby Tug River. Forest fires are spread across the currently dry state.

To Whom It May Concern: There was numerous fire depts on scene at Naugatuck during the forest fire there. including Lenore Vol.Fire Dept,Kermit,Delbarton, and Chatteroy along with Williamson, just because we are not paid doesn't mean we weren't there so please ammend your story according to this new information here.We put our lives on the line the same as the paid depts.First of all that is Lenores territory and we have to call for any aide that we might need, and that was sure a bad scene down there it was a old junk yard that had been there for many years. And there was a little bit of everything in that hollow. Sincerely, and fire fighter from Lenore
