Willis Cox Jr., 67, of Wayland, windower of Yvonne Thornsberry Cox, died Dec. 24, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born March 20, 1945, to the late Arthur and Grethel Crum Cox, he was a disabled coal miner.

He is survived by four sons, Jeffery Cox, of Prestonsburg, Jimmy Cox, of Wayland, Iran O’Neil Cox, of McDowell, and Charles Rodney Cox, of Garrett; a daughter, Narita Collett, of Garrett; three brothers, Elmer “Pete” Cox, of Fleming County, Joe Cox, of Sandy Hook, and Willard Cox, of Fleming County; four sisters, Cora Moore, of Estill, Mary Howard and Leila Cox, of Hueysville, and Betsy Slone, of Mousie; 11 grandchildren, Chris, Katie, Kristan, Jordan, Zach, Hannah, Devan, Neil Jr., Austin, Justin and Hannah; and two great grandchildren, Arick and Isabella.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Cox, and two brothers, Grant Cox and Bill Cox.

Funeral services for Willis Cox Jr. will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 28, at the Ball Branch Old Regular Baptist Church, at Mousie, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornsberry Cemetery, at Mousie.

Visitation will be held all day Thursday, at the church.
