WILLIAMSON — A plethora of people found comfort and fun during a Christmas program held Friday night at Jacob’s Well on Third Avenue.

Approximately 50 people, with more than 20 of them being children, attended the event, which began at 6 p.m. Each person was served a free meal of pizza and soda.

The crowd was impressive, with children talking about children’s things and playing with the numerous stuffed animals they had apparently brought with them. Between the laughter, casual talking and the faint Christmas music playing, the mood was a joyous one.

After the meal had come to an end near 6:50 p.m., a rug was brought out. Jeanette O’Brien, coordinator of Jacob’s Well, called for all the children to come sit there to listen to the story of Christmas, as told by Mark Carter. After the story had ended, the kids were given gifts: a toy and a set of clothes. On top of that, the kids also had a selection of cookies and other snacks to chow down on.

Jacob’s Well will have its next event, a Christmas dinner, on Friday, Dec. 21. O’Brien told the Daily News that they served 341 people at their Thanksgiving dinner and expected more to attend for Christmas. The event begins at 11 a.m.

The Well is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call 304-236-5955.
