Tug Valley takes Weir

CHARLESTON (AP) — Channing Preece scored 14 points and Tug Valley led from start to finish, beating Weir 63-46 in the Class AA quarterfinals Thursday night.

Fifth-seeded Tug Valley (17-9) reached the semifinals for the first time since 2001 and will face No. 1 Wyoming East (25-1) on Friday.

Tug Valley jumped ahead 19-11 after the first period and led 34-21 at halftime. The lead grew to as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Tug Valley's Austin Vance and Nathan Brewer added 12 points apiece.

Shawn Burns had 11 points to pace No. 4 Weir (15-10).

Weir shot just 29 percent (16-of-55) from the floor and was outrebounded 45-29.
