FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky House has given its final blessing to scrap the state's decade-old school testing system.

House members voted 93-0 Friday to accept a final version hammered out by House and Senate negotiators over the past couple of days. The bill now heads back to the Senate for a final vote that would send the measure to Gov. Steve Beshear for his consideration.

The measure seeks to end the testing program known as CATS — or the Common-wealth Accountability Testing System. Negotiations over a final version focused on what type of interim test would be given until state education officials develop a new permanent exam by the 2011-12 academic year.
