Bessie V. Wallace, 92, of Delbarton, passed away October 13, 2012, at the Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington.


She was born June 21, 1920, in Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mahalia Porter Johnson.


She was also preceded in death by her husband, Granville Wallace, who passed away one year after her seventh child was born, son, Gary Wallace; and eight siblings.


Mrs. Wallace, during her life carried many titles, she was a mother, dad, working woman, a disciplinarian, peacemaker, dentist, decision maker, friend and the list goes on and on. She instilled values and morals within her family. She also gave love that was more important than anything money could buy. Each of her sons and daughter have inherited one or more of her qualities that can be passed on to the next generation. Never remarrying, she devoted her life to her children unselfishly.


Those left behind to cherish her memories include her children, Terry Wallace of Georgia, Ginger Wallace (Ted Musick) of Holbert, Ind., Sandy (Bill) Varney of Naugatuck, Kathy Wallace of S. Point, Ohio, Tammy (John) Hatfield of Varney and Tonda Branham of Ragland; she also leaves behind, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday October 16, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Will Compton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lenore Memorial Gardens at Lenore. Visitation will be at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
