MOUTHCARD —M&D General Contractors set signs and began guardrail installation along Ky. Route 1499, the Mouthcard-Biggs Road, on Thursday, March 5.

The contract, in the amount of $76,773.59, calls for new guardrail from mile point 0.00 to mile point 0.998, slightly less than one mile. This is an area which does not currently have guardrail.

Paxton Weddington, section supervisor for Highway District 12, said the contractor has until May 30 to complete the work.

MARTIN COUNTY — Long delays and a planned power outage along Ky. Route 2032 in Martin County are expected this Thursday, March 12, as state highway workers drill railroad steel to fix an embankment failure on the two-lane road.

One break on Ky. Route 2032 was fixed on Tuesday, March 10. This work did not involve a power outage. However, Jerry Lowe of Highway District 12 said that Thursday’s work is being coordinated with Kentucky Power Company because a power outage of a few hours will be required for safety reasons.

“There will be long delays,” Lowe said, “and motorists should take an alternate route if at all possible. The work is being done at mile point 2.3, and there is a way out of Ky. Route 2032 on each side of the work site. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience, and remind everyone that this type of work is necessary to keep our roads safe for everyone who uses them.”
