Jack L. Bevins, 67, of Norton, Va., passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Heritage Hall Health Care in Wise, Va., after a lingering illness.

Jack was a Williamson, W. Va., native where he lived and worked for years before moving to Norton. He was a graduate of Williamson High School and attended Union College. Afterwards he was employed by the Appal-achian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky., as a cardio-pulmonary technician and later worked there in the diabetic research program which was selected as part of a number of strategically located clinics nationwide seeking date for a cure for diabetes. The program was headed by the West Virginia University School of Medicine. After the program ended, Jacked moved to Norton and worked for Norton Community Hos-pital. He became Director of Community Home Care where he worked until his retirement.

Jack was a charter member of Zion Cathedral of Praise, which is now Zion Family Ministries, and had served the church as a deacon and trustee.

Jack is survived by his wife, Pat Bazell Bevins; two daughters, Jenifer Lynn (Mike)McCoy, Janeth Erin (Steve) Childers; son, David Christopher (Lisa) Bevins; his mother, India B. Bevins; grandchildren, Erin Quinn Childers, Nicholas Steven Childers, Meredith Hannah McCoy and Maura Brynn McCoy; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services here held on Friday, March 6, at the Zion Family Ministries Church with committal services at the Wise Cemetery in Wise, Va.

Arrangements were un-der the direction of Sturgill Funeral Home of Wise.
