NEW ORLEANS, La. - Marshall University sophomore Tynikki Crook was named to the 2009 All-Conference USA Tournament Team, it was announced following UCF's 65-54 win over Southern Miss in the championship game on Sunday.

Crook averaged a double-double in the Thundering Herd's three tournament games this week with 17.33 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per contest.

"What a great honor for Ty, it's back-to-back for her and a great honor for our team," head coach Royce Chadwick said. "You have to play at a certain level to have an All-Tournament player, and to have that for two consecutive seasons is great."

"I'm excited for her and the team as a whole, I think that this bodes well for her future and that of our team."

In the opener against Memphis, Crook continued her success against Memphis, scoring 24 points on 8-15 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 showing from the free throw line. She also tallied nine rebounds and a career-high five steals against the Tigers.

On Friday, Crook played a pivotal role in the Herd's 72-70 overtime win against No. 2 seed UTEP, scoring 13 points and grabbing ten boards while also blocking two shots. She was extremely accurate from the field, going 5-6 while chipping in two blocked shots.

Crook wrapped up the tournament run with a 15-point, 11-rebound performance against Southern Miss.

For the tournament, Crook was 17-of-30 from the floor and saved the best free throw shooting of her career for the tournament, hitting 86% (18-21) of her shots from the charity stripe over the three games.

This marks the second such honor for Crook, who became the first freshman named to the team since the conference realignment last season. It is also is the second time Crook was the only players named to the team who did not advance to the championship game.

Joining Crook on the team were Andrea Barber and Pauline Love of Southern Miss and Chelsie Wiley and Emma Cannon of the Knights. Cannon was also recognized as the tournament MVP.
