PARKERSBURG - Mingo Central only dropped to No. 11 in the Secondary School Activities Commission’s high school football computer ratings released Tuesday. Tug Valley comes in at a tie for No. 10 in Class A.

Mingo Central was No. 7 last week in Class AA, but lost 53-14 to Wayne this past Friday. The Pioneers, who were ranked No. 2 last week, actually dropped a spot to No. 3 this week. Wayne is the defending Class AA state champs. They will take on the No. 1 ranked team, the Scott Skyhawks, Friday night in Madison.

Bridgeport moved ahead of Wayne to the second spot in Class AA this week.

The Miners will play host to Tolsia this week in their homecoming game. The Rebels have been a surprise this season and come into the MCHS game with a 3-3 record and tied for No. 16. Tolsia did not win a game last season.

Meanwhile, Tug Valley continued their winning ways with a 33-0 shutout win over Hannan. The Panthers are vying for a playoff spot in Class A. The Panthers will travel to Westside this week. Westside is Class AA and could give Tug Valley some extra points in the rankings if they pull out a win in the tough road game.

Tucker County (6-0) is ranked No. 1 in Class A this week followed by Greenbrier West and Valley of Fayette.

Tug Valley is tied with Meadow Bridge, which is the only team to defeat the Panthers this season. TVHS was tied for No. 8 last week, but since Hannan did not have a good record, they dropped a couple of notches this week.

Cabell-Midland remains No. 1 in Class AAA, followed by University, Martinsburg and Huntington. Logan has been a surprise this season in 3A with a 5-1 record and current ranking of No. 9.

The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs starting Friday Nov. 9.
