Charles Luther Phillips, 69 of Ransom, Ky. died Tuesday night, March 3, 2009 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.

He was born January 16, 1940 in Pike County, Ky. the son of the late John Ralph Phillips and Effie Marie Ison Phillips War-ner.  He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Delana Ann Phillips.

He was a retired coal miner from Wolf Creek Colliers and a member of the Ark of Safety Pen-tecostal Church of Jesus, Roderfield, WV.

Survivors include his wife, Helen L. Phillips of Ransom, four daughters, Debra (Bill) Smith of Phelps, Ky., Donna (Ran-dy) Thompson of Chat-taroy, WV, Diane (Tony) Ison of Ransom, Ky. and Harley Denise Bolen of Ransom, Ky. three sons, Charles Phillips Jr. of Ransom, Ky., Gene (Kathy) Phillips of Ransom, Ky. and John Randall Lee Phillips and Fiancee, Laura LaRue of Ransom, Ky. and two brothers, Bill (Sandy) Phil-lips of Big Sandy, WV and Donnie (Mavis) Phillips of Princeton, WV, six sisters, Barbara (Albert) Crabtree of Warsaw, WV,  Betty Davis of Big Sandy, WV, Ann Lou Phillips of Warsaw, WV, Patty (Wal-ton) England of Princeton, WV, Kathy (Mike) Dillion of Princeton, WV and Connie Sue Collins of Big Sandy, WV., eleven grandchildren, Donnie and Jason Sullivan, Kristal Thomas, Renae Eldridge Phillips, Luke Phillips, Becky Hat-field, Megan Ison, Anthony Ison, Marquitta Ison, Nicky Phillips, Kacey Norman and a host of great grandchildren and his special pet “Clyde”.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, March 7, 2009 at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry with Pastor Gene Ball and Pastor Danny Ball.  Burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery, Ran-som, Ky.  Visitation will be held after 6 PM Thursday and Friday at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with special services both nights at 7 PM.  Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.  R. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. It is so hard when our loved ones time with us has to come to an end. But never forget they are watching down upon us in abetter place, waiting for the lord to reunite our family's once again.
