Ebert C. Merritt, 42, of Elk Creek, W.Va., departed this life on March 2, 2009 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born July 5, 1966 at Gilbert, W.Va. Ebert was the son of Rev. Glen Merritt of Ragland, W.Va., and the late Gladys Merritt.

He was a coal miner, employed by Rock Springs Development.

He is survived by his loving wife Margie Maynard Merritt; three brothers, Glen Dale Merritt of Ohio, Homer Merritt and Charles Philip (PigEye) Bailey of Ragland, W.Va.; and two sisters, Betty Scott of Ragland, W.Va., Audrey Lewis of Huntington, W.Va.

He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary L. Maynard, and the late Randall Maynard.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was loved by all.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian Fellowship Church at Ragland, W.Va., Thursday March 5, 2009 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Charlie Dingess officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va.

Visitation will be at the Church Wednesday evening after 6 p.m.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
