PIKEVILLE — An arrest was made Monday in the Feb. 22, robbery of a Pike County convenience store.

Corey Whitehead, 22, of Winns Branch Road in Pikeville, was charged with first degree robbery and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.

At presstime, bond had not been set for Whitehead, who is accused of robbing the Meta Double Kwik.

The case is one of several robberies in the area in the past few months and was the second time the Meta Double Kwik has been robbed within four months. Other Pike county businesses, such as a convenience store in Sidney and a jewelry store in Pikeville, have been the targets of recent robberies.

According to KSP Media Specialist Mike Goble, the KSP will continue investigating these crimes and that some arrests have been made. Other arrests are pending in the Double Kwik robbery, Goble said. That robbery is still under investigation by Tpr. Randall Coots and Det. Gary Sykes.

“We here at Post Nine are working as hard as possible to solve these robberies,” Goble said. “We take our responsibility seriously, and we are not letting up.”
