Ruth Hatfield, 88, of Williamson, formerly of Red Jacket, departed this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, from the Pikeville Medical Center of Pikeville, Ky.
She was born March 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Glen and Pearl Bandy McCoy in Matewan.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Roby Hatfield; grandson Joseph Michael Hatfield; brothers Babe, Clifford, and Jim McCoy; sisters Lena Pearl Sweeney and JoAnn McCoy.
In addition to being a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor, Ruth was a homemaker, a member of the East Williamson Baptist Church, and also a member of the Calista Boyd Eastern Star Chapter # 104.
She leaves to honor her loving memory and mourn her passing, son Mike (Trish) Hatfield of Red Jacket; daughter Leah Ann Glass of High Point, N.C.; sister Mildred Spaulding of Williamson; grandchildren Valerie (Doug) Lynn Perkins; great-grandchildren Shayla Justice, Summer Perkins, Kadie Jo Perkins; and great-great-grandchild Sophia Machelle Justice.
Ruth is also survived by Special niece Rose Marie McCoy of Williamson. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Honoring services will be conducted Friday, September 7, at the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel at noon with the Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will begin receiving friends on Thursday, September 6, at the funeral home chapel from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chambers Funeral Services, Inc. of Matewan.
