A three-vehicle accident that occurred on US 119 at the intersection of CVS Pharmacy and Appalachian Tobacco sent four people to the hospital Thursday.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. just as schools were releasing students for the day holding up traffic in both the north and south-bound lanes.

Witnesses say a car had stalled at the red light entering the highway from Williamson and cars behind the vehicle began to pull around it to catch the green light.

Joey, Jessica and Mary Mounts witnessed the incident and told the Daily News their car was close to being involved. Joey Mounts said the white Chevrolet HHR driven by Tyler Matney was attempting to pull around the stalled vehicle onto US 119 when his automobile was t-boned by a blue Chevrolet Tahoe. An unknown woman drove the Tahoe with two children as passengers.

Mounts said a third vehicle that he described as a light blue vehicle driven by a woman with children aboard, left the scene of the accident before authorities arrived. He said the woman told him she “just wanted to pull off the road” but traveled towards Williamson crossing over into West Virginia and did not return.

Belfry Volunteer Fire Department Chief Nee Jackson said Matney and the woman driver of the Tahoe along with her young son were transported to Appalachian Regional Hospital. He said there appeared to have been no serious injuries suffered from the accident.

BVFD responded with two trucks and nine firefighters. Airbags in both vehicles deployed from the impact.

The accident is under the investigation of the Kentucky State Police.

All papers usually do not print a minors name if they commit or are a victim of a crime, I see nowhere in the artice where Matney is either of these. Also I do not read where the article states that anyone is at fault it simply states what the witness told them.

Are you aware that Tyler Matney is a minor? Since when did the Williamson Daily News start printing the names of minors? The way the story reads is misleading as well. You are insinuating that the Matney boy is at fault. Are you aware that the driver of the Tahoe ran a red light?
