WILLIAMSON - Do you think your baby or your grandchild is the cutest, prettiest or has the best personality of all the babies in the Tug Valley area?
Now is time to prove your theory, by entering them in the 2012 King Coal Baby Pageant scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15, beginning at 10:30 a.m., when the contestants in the 6 to 12 month-old division takes the stage.
According to information provided by Ann Lipps, event chairman and a member of the sponsor, the Williamson Woman’s Club, pre-registration for the upcoming pageant may be completed at Heaven Sent inside the Southside Mall at Goody, Ky., or at the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce (Coal House), located on 2nd Avenue in Williamson.
The deadline for the popular event will be on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 4 p.m. A nominal fee of $10 will be assessed for each participant and must be paid on the day of the pageant, which is slated to be held at the 1st United Methodist Church located at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Dickinson Street in downtown Williamson.
Boys will be judged in the categories of most handsome, best personality and most active. The girls will be judged in most beautiful, prissiest and best personality.
Judging will begin at the following times for specific age groups. Boys and girls ages 6-12 months – 10:30 a.m. Boys and girls who are ages 13-18 months of age will begin at approximately 11:30, followed by those age 19-24 months, planned to begin at 12:30 p.m.
A trophy will be awarded to the winner in each division and category, and certificates will be awarded to all those who participate. Each contestant will qualify to enter a drawing for a $50 prize that will be presented to 1 lucky girl and 1 boy.
Prizes and awards for the baby pageant are being provided courtesy of two Williamson-based businesses, Real Estate 2 and City Insurance.
The winners are also requested to participate in the 40th annual King Coal Parade which will begin this same day at 4 p.m., with line-up at 3:30 in the parking lot area of the Sycamore Inn o, located on 2nd Avenue.
