Charles Edward Varney — devoted husband, loving father and grandfather — 77, of South Williamson, Ky., passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
Born September 5, 1934, in Pike County, Ky., he was the son of the late Lunda and Ella Williams Varney.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Florence Deel Varney; three brothers Elmer Grayson Varney, Cecil Varney, and Billy Ray Varney; and one sister Nellie Varney Miller.
Charles was a graduate of Belfry High School, a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, and he was a retired electrician from the Appalachian Regional Hospital with 44 years of service.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Chris and Sharon Varney of Sidney, Ky.; his two precious grandchildren Shane (Amanda) Varney of Canada, Ky., and Kellie Varney of Sidney. Also surviving is his special friend Danny Stacy of Hardy, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday; September 5, at noon from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky., with Pastor Jack Maynard of the Canada Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky., with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home with special services at 7 p.m. with Bro. Ronnie May and Bro. Roger Williamson speaking.
