Born September 14, 1922, in Pike County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late James Griffey and Caroline Stump Griffey.
Clara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Webb on February 2, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Browning, Judy Litteral and Roma Griffey; and two brothers, Sherman Griffey and James C. Griffey.
Clara was a deeply devoted and very loving and concerned wife, mother and grandmother. While in the past she had been happily employed in a number of adventures that took her outside of her home, she found that her truest joy and greatest happiness was found within the home that she shared with her husband John and their children and grandchildren. Clara’s home was always a retreat for family members and friends. It was Clara’s presence and loving touch that turned a mere house into a wonderful family home where everyone found love and acceptance.
The Webb home was always a place for fun activities. The family enjoyed gathering by the pool during warm weather and as Christmas approached each year, Clara and John worked together to decorated their home and large yard for all of the family’s holiday festivities.
Clara leaves as her legacy her extraordinary example of devotion as a wife, mother and grandmother. As well, she leaves a multitude of wonderful memories that will strengthen and sustain her beloved family from this time forward. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered always. Clara was of the Apostolic faith.
Clara is survived by three daughters, Patty Charles of South Williamson, Ky., Donna Sue Webb, of Shelbyville, Ky., and Judith Lynn Hurley of Edgarton, WV; one son, Shannon (Melissa) Webb of Happy Valley, Ky.; six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Avery (Ethel) Griffey, Toledo, Oh.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, February 26, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. The body will be moved to the Apostolic Church at Jamboree, Ky., on Friday, February 27, 2009, where friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Special services will be conducted each night at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 28, 2009.
The Rev. Richard McKinney and the Rev. Brian Hager will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Blake Griffey and Larry Griffey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson is serving the Webb family.
