LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Steve Beshear says Kentucky’s share of federal stimulus money will exceed $3 billion over the next 28 months.
Beshear says the federal money will serve as a jolt to the state’s economy that will preserve jobs and create new ones while also bolstering the state with new roads, bridges and water and sewer lines. Beshear is promising openness in how the state spends the $3.2 billion, and is promising a Web site to track what the state does with its share.
Beshear says the state also will pursue billions of dollars worth of federal grants including transportation, energy and broadband network expansion for Kentucky.
