Voting is patriotic. Restoring people’s rights, including voting, after they have served their time is also part of the Democratic vision. So why are we one of two states that doesn’t automatically restore these rights? In Kentucky the Governor can grant a partial pardon, but hundreds of applications have never been processed. Almost 200,000 people are barred from voting in Kentucky.
Hb70 has passed through the House already and now sits in the Senate. Encourage your senators to vote yes. And when it is on the ballot in 2010, vote yes.

Dear Editor,
Be the Good Samaritan. Let your representatives Keith Hall, T. Edmonds, and Ancel Smith know that you are opposed to HB119 (BR306). We--many people and organizations banded together and worked so hard two years ago to get a bill passed to increase the number of EMT’s to two, after one miner unecessarily bled to death and left behind a widow and a child. So why would legislators introduce a bill now reducing the required EMTs at a site? Whose interests are our representatives taking up for? We have depended on coal and miners for many decades, we should be honoring and protecting them, not leaving them ‘beside the road.’
