WILLIAMSON – Four persons, one of them a teenager, entered guilty pleas to charges contained in their January indictments during appearances Thurs-day and Friday in Mingo County Circuit Court.

Chief Judge Michael Thornsbury accepted the pleas, remanded the defendants back to Southwestern Regional Jail, and set trial dates in March.

Daniel Edward Vance, 18, pled guilty Thursday to committing grand larceny and the state agreed to dismiss another charge in his indictment in return for the plea agreement.

Vance allegedly conspired with another person to steal and carry away a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier valued at approximately $1,355 and owned by Kayla Browning. The incident occurred Sept. 7, 2008.

He was represented by Cathy Cisco-Sturgell and is scheduled for sentencing at 3:30 p.m. on March 23.

A 30-year-old William-son woman, Tawana Yvonne Hunter, entered a plea of guilty to distribution of a Schedule II controlled substance (Cocaine and Oxycodone) within 1,000 feet of a private elementary school, identified in the indictment as Sacred Heart School in William-son.

In return for her plea, the state agreed to dismiss two other counts in her January indictment. She was represented by Diane Carter Wiedel and is scheduled for sentencing at 1:45 p.m. on March 23.

Angel Stanley, 38, of Williamson, was named in a sealed January indictment with one count of delivery of a Schedule III controlled substance (Hydrocodone). Another indictment charging her with conspiracy to deliver that substance will be dismissed by the state in return for her plea. She was represented by Cathy Cisco-Sturgell. Her sentencing is set for 1:45 p.m. on March 23.

Mingo County Prosecut-ing Attorney C. Michael Sparks represented Hunter, and Assistant Prosecutor Teresa D. Hall appeared for the state in the Stanley and Vance hearings.

Carl David Salmons, 43, of Dan’s Branch Road, near Williamson, entered pleas of guilty to Counts I and II of his indictment, which stemmed from alleged offenses committed on Sept. 23, 2008.

Count I charges Salmons with breaking and entering a shop occupied by and doing business as G & V Club Inc., with intent to commit a larceny therein. Count II accuses him of grand larceny when he feloniously stole and carried away $22,746 in United States currency, owned by G & V Club Inc. A third count charging conspiracy to commit grand larceny was dismissed by the state in return for the plea.

Salmons, who was represented by Williamson Attorney Jerry Lyall, was remanded to jail pending sentencing at 9 a.m. on March 23. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Glen Rutledge represented the state in this proceeding.
