GRANTS BRANCH PARK - If you are a fishing enthusiast, a fan of antique automobiles or find that your taste drift more toward motorcycles, The Upper Pond Creek (UPC) Fire Department have several events scheduled for this weekend that offers something for everyone.


Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the 18th, at Grants Branch Park at Pinsonfork, Ky., registration is slated to start for those who wish to enter their cars, trucks and motorcycles in the 4th Annual UPC Car Show. Entry fee will be $20 per vehicle and judging is planned to begin at 2 p.m. with presentation of the trophies to follow the results of the votes being tabulated.


Categories for the competition include Top 30, best Ford, best Chevrolet, best Mopar (Dodge), best truck, best muscle car, best Corvette, best motorcycle, best truck and the esteemed top trophy of the event – Best Fire Truck.


Following the conclusion of the car show, area fishermen will begin registering for the Annual Catfish Tournament, which will begin at 9 p.m. and will end at 6 a.m. on Sunday, the 19th. Entry fee per individual will be $10, and each participant stands a chance of a 75 percent payback from trophies and prizes that will be awarded.


State law requires that each participant have a valid fishing license and no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the property. If you plan to enter the competition, you cannot fish between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. You will be allowed to weigh your fish at any time during the competition if you choose to leave before it is over, and you do not have to be present to win. All coolers and live wells will be checked prior to the tournament start.
