Pike Chamber to hold second town hall forum

The Pike County Chamber of Commerce will hold its second Town Hall Forum on 5 p.m., Feb. 17, at the Hampton Inn in downtown Pikeville.

The Town Hall Forum series is a new addition to the Chamber’s roster of programs to foster the relationship between the business community and our elected officials.

“The Town Hall Forums give the citizens of our Pike County communities the opportunity to interact with their local and state government officials as well as business executives,” said Pike Chamber President Brad Hall.  “It is a wonderful opportunity for any individual in a community to come and speak with their representative, senator, or other local official.”

The subject of the forum will be on The Recession: Media vs. Reality - Is the

media’s portrayal of our country’s economy true for Pike County?

Speaking will beanswers from those who know: Jean Hale, President of Com-munity Trust Bancorp, who will discuss banking and loans, Lloyd Hall, Vice President at Equitable Resources, who will discuss natural gas resources, Randy Walters of Walter’s Automotive Group, who will discuss how the recession has affected car sales, Dennis Hatfield, President of Booth Energy, who will discuss the current coal industry, Robert Damron, President of East Ky. Realtors Association who will discuss the Pike county. housing market and Keith Bridges, AVP of Marketing of Pikeville Medical Center , who will discuss healthcare.  

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions.  Each official will speak and questions will be posed by a moderator. A question and answer session will be held for those in the audience. Heavy hors d’oeuvres  will be served. The event is free and everyone is invited to attend.
