Feb. 13

The Pinson fork Church of God Youth Group will be having a fundraiser for winterfest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church. Spaghetti dinner will be $6 and will include spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Call (606) 353-4663 to place an order.

Feb. 14

Examinations for those wanting an upgraded Amateur Radio “Ham” License from the Federal Communications Commission will be held at 9 a.m. at the Museum of Radio and Technology in Huntington, W.Va., at West Side 1649 Florence Avenue, off Harvey Road. Feb. 15

Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex in Moundsville will present a children’s workshop entitled “Ice Age West Virginia” from 2 - 3:30 p.m. The workshop is geared for students in kindergarten through fourth grade although visitors of all ages are invited to attend. The “Ice Age West Virginia” session is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Harmony Week, which celebrates cultural diversity, will kick off at 3 p.m. at the Logan Street Baptist Church with keynote speaker Sylvester Myers, author and president/CEO of SC Myers.

Dignity Hospice and Home Health will be having their monthly volunteer training at the Williamson office from noon to 4 p.m. Call 235-0017 for more information.

The Williamson Public Library will host Joseph Bundy portraying Booker T. Washington, along with presentations about African American history by Williamson High School students at 5 p.m.

The Logan County Public Service District Public Service Board will hold a board meeting at 6:30 p.m., at the district’s office at 41 Armory Road, Monaville, W.Va.

Feb. 19

The Tug Valley Arts Council will present the Dixie Hummingbirds at 7:30 p.m., at the Rose G. Smith Theater. Adult tickets are $15, children under 18, $10.

The Tug Valley Shrine Club will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Williamson Masonic Lodge. All members are asked to attend.

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter #141,  Belfry, Ky., and it’s Auxiliary will have its regular monthly meeting at 2 p.m., at the Belfry courthouse. All members and honorably discharged veterans and their spouses are encouraged to attend.

Att 2 p.m. the Delbarton Midget League will be having an election of officer’s and regular meeting. Discussion will be about old and new business, and anyone wishing to be involved with the league will need to attend this meeting. It will be held at Connolly Memorial Baptist Church.

The Local School Improvement Council meeting for Williamson High School will be held at 6 p.m. at the school.

St Paul’s Episcopal Church on Prichard Street at 5th Avenue.in Williamson will hold its Annual Ralph Farmer/Graham Smith Pancake Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Adult $5:00 -  Children $ 3.00   Pay at the door or see church members for tickets.

February 25

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Prichard Street at Fifth Avenue, Williamson. Ash Wednesday, Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion 6 p.m. Fr. Nick England, priest.  All denominations, welcome.

Feb. 26

Williamson City Council will hold its second monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall. The public is invited to attend.

Feb. 27

Operaton Charity will be giving out food from noon to 2 p.m. the last Friday of each month at the Full Gospel Assembly of God in Matewan, W.Va.. They provide USDA commodities in accordance with civil rights policy, which prohibits discrimination in all its programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, or marital or family status. Belfry Area Little League will be hosting registration for the 2009 season from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Black Gem Field. Boys and girls from ages 5-18 years of age are invited for baseball and softball. Mingo County Democrat Women’s Club will meet at 6 p.m. at the Southside Mall steakhouse. They will meet at the Brass Tree on April 28 and May 19 again at 6 p.m.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Prichard Street at 5th Avenue, Williamson, will host a Taizé’s prayer service ( prayer, silence, song and scripture) on the Fifth Sunday in Lent, beginning at 5 p.m. The Mingo/Pike community is invited. Refreshments will follow the service in the church undercroft.

AARP Tax-Aid will have a representative at the Williamson Public Library beginning February 10 through April 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays to assist middle and low-income citizens, with special attention to those age 60 and older. For more info, call the library at 235-6029.
