Staff Reports

The Pike County Health Department has released the scores of its restaurant inspections.

Eating establishments are normally inspected twice a year, checking food storage, preparations, personnel, restrooms, water and other health conditions.

Some of the PCHD scores are:

Pike Central High School - 100, Blackberry Elementary School - 95, Bevins Elementary School - 96, Johns Creek Elementary - 97, Phelps Elementary - 93, Belfry Senior Citizens Center - 93, Jerry’s of Pikeville - 93, Fast Lane of South Williamson - 94, Speedway at Belfry - 97, Appalachian Tobacco & Gas - 70, critical items corrected, score 88, Belfry Double Kwik - 79, critical items corrected, score 89, Phelps One Stop - 81, critical items corrected, score 91, Food City of South Williamson - 70, critical items corrected, score 84.

A score of 70 to 84 means the establishment must be re-inspected within 30 days. A score of 60 to 69 means the establishment has five days to request a hearing to show why it should be allowed to stay open. Any score lower than that indicates the establishment can be closed immediately if there is a health risk to the public.
