Officers from the Pike County Sheriff’s office arrested three area residents Saturday after an alleged doctor-shopping trip to Florida.
Constable James Worley and Deputy William McCoy were called to the Southside Mall parking lot where they found Marion Mounts, Jr. (the driver), and Jennifer Bailey (a passenger) allegedly “passed out” in a 2008 Ford Mustang.
Worley said the subjects were awakened and identified. Upon searching Mounts, police allege several containers of pills were discovered and later identified as oxycodone and Xanax.
PCSD Det. Greg Smith interviewed the duo at the Belfry Sheriff’s office. The interview led to a search warrant being obtained and executed at 231 Lick Branch Rd. at Hatfield, Ky. where Hackney was arrested and more evidence discovered.
Additional drugs were found during a body cavity search conducted at the Pike County Detention Center.
Police say Mounts traveled to Florida to see a doctor and obtain the prescription medications. PCSD also seized the Mustang Mounts was driving and several computers from the home. Worley said he will be speaking with the FBI on more allegations against the suspects for burning movies to DVDs from the Internet.
Mounts was charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, trafficking in a controlled substance, receiving police messages, promoting contraband and tampering with evidence.
Bailey was charged with public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear in a Pike County court.
Pamela Hackney was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance first offense, possession of a controlled substance third offense, prescription pills in an improper container and possession of drug paraphernalia.
“It turned out really well,” Worley said. “This is a good example of law enforcement and Detention Center personnel working together. At this point, we got the pills off the street.”
