“Rough n’ Rowdy” brings boxing excitement to Tug Valley

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. - “Go,Go, Go!. Those were the words eches all night long over the PA system and from the fans Friday night as over 3,000 fans packed into the Williamson Fieldhouse for opening night of the 14th annual edition of the “Rough ‘n Rowdy Brawl”.
It was a great night for lovers of amateur boxing as 97 fighters from the Mingo, Pike and Martin County area showed up to fight last night. of the 97, 49 are eligible to return tonight.
“All 3 of the men’s divisions are loaded with talent and a very explosive finals is expected tonight.” said Rough n’ Rowdy Promoter Chris Smith
˜The Peoples Champ” Jordan Moore won his fight by first round KO. He looks very strong for being the lightest heavyweight in the division. 2007 heavyweight champ “Last Man Standing” Neil Fannin scared his opponent out of the ring seconds before the opening bell.
“Rough and Rowdy” Sam Dowdy won a pretty tough fight Friday night. Dustin Dotson of Naugatuck is also a force in the division as well.
The middleweight class is loaded with talent. 2008 defending middleweight champ “˜Mama’s Boy” Josh Stepp turned up the heat in the 2nd and 3rd round to earn his spot in the next round of eliminations.
2006 middleweight champ Brandon Muncy had a big win Friday. Jerome Jessie looked very good. “Mr. Untouchable” Nathan Cantrell looks unstoppable and “Flawless” Mathew Baccus dominated his opponent Friday night.
“D-boa” Deboris Wright looks really promising to win the lightweight division tonight.
“Flip” Kermit Lewis did his flip in the ring after he won.
“Outcast” Tony Marcum made the Marcum family proud with his win Friday night.
“Babyface” Gerald Epling stole the show. He will be very tough for anyone. Legendary Rough ‘n Rowdy champ John Hannah’s baby brother Donnie Hannah looked really solid.
“In addition to the fights, this year’s ring girl competition is one of the closest .n Williamson Brawl history.”, says promoter Smith. 10 ladies are battling it out for the ring girl title tonight.
Tickets are available all day at Williamson Gun and Archery and Western Auto in Kermit. They will also be available at the gate from 5pm until late night.
