We are coming together to celebrate the life of Mack Sammons, 54, of Lenore, WV who crossed over into glory a shouting on Monday; February 2, 2009 at his residence following a brief illness.

Born the eldest son of the late John F. & Virginia Newsome Sammons on February 16, 1954 in Madison, WV.

A dedicated soldier of the Lord through the Lenore Fellowship Baptist Church, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, also preceding his death were a grand-daughter, Victoria Paige Hargrove; a brother, John Edward Sammons, and a sister, Mary Melissa Sammons.

Mack was a multi-talented man, being a disabled coal miner, brick mason, and carpenter. He will be most remembered as an avid hunter, fisherman, and musician; where he shared songs and sounds of praise for the Lord to many area churches.

Survivors include his best friend and loving wife of 29 years Vicky Kennedy Sammons of Lenore, WV; his daughters, Virgnia (Jenny) Sammons of the home, Tina Sammons of Vancouver Island, British Columbia -

Canada, Ashley (Richard) Sammons Ooten of Lenore, WV, and Mary “Missy” Sammons & Byron Hollie of Alexandria, Tenn.; his brothers, William (Pearlie) Sammons of Grundy, VA, Virgil (Vesta) Sammons of Myrtle, WV, Paul (Camila)Sammons of Myrtle, WV, Jerry Sammons of Chapmanville, WV; his sisters, Dalphene Estep of Lenore, WV, Martha Sammons of Logan, WV; his sister-in-Law Shelia Sammons of Gillette, WY; a special grandson, Phillip “Bub”Fitchpatrick of Marrowbone, WV.

Other grandchildren include Josie (Rufus) Sammons, Tyler & Payten Hargrove, Alexis & Macy Sammons, step-grandchildren: Kevin & Zoe Ooten; a special niece: Diana Hall; and a host of other nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

Mack was blessed with 3 special brothers, Don Goff of Lenore, WV; Lloyd Mills of Naugatuck, WV; and Clyde Blair of Williamson, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday; February 7, 2009 at Noon from the Lenore Fellowship Baptist Church with pastors Don Stroud and Jack Small bringing a message of Mack’s life. Burial will follow in the Mayberry Cemetery at Lenore, WV. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Goff, Lloyd Mills, Clyde Blair, Gloria Blair, Curtis Hall, &Gary Dove. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday and Friday from 6-11 P.M. at the Lenore Fellowship Baptist Church with special singing & fellowship nightly.

In lieu of flowers, Mack would be honored if donations could be made to the Williamson Christian School P.O. Box 901 Williamson, WV 25661.
