GOODY, Ky. – The Belfry Lady Pirates rolled past Sheldon Clark 14-4 on a cool Thursday evening at Massey Energy Fields at Goody, Ky.

The game ended in the bottom of the 6th inning due to the mercy rule.

Belfry jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning. Sheldon Clark got back two runs thanks back to back doubles by M. Mooney and B. Hatfield to make it 3-2 in the 2nd frame.

The Lady Cardinals tied the game at 3-3 in the top half of the 3rd inning. However, the Lady Pirates jumped back ahead with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Morgan Hall and Candace Gilman each had single in the innings to help Coach Ryan Chapman’s team take a 6-3 lead.

Belfry went up 9-3 with a 4th inning rally.

Winning pitcher Brooke Williamson helped her own cause with a triple and two RBIs in the 5th inning. She then stole home to give her team a 12-4 lead.

Belfry got another run when shortstop Brooke Branham lined a triple to leftfield and scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Lady Pirates a 13-4 advantage. Williamson had an RBI single in the 6th inning to end the game at 14-4.

Williamson had three hits including a pair of triples and four RBIs. Branham had two hits with a triple and RBI. Kacey Tackett added a double and Candace Gilman an RBI single.

“I’m real proud of them,” coach Chapman said of his team. “We’ve been a little banged up; Candace Gilman played a great game at first base for us tonight. We just keep trying to get a little better each day.”

T. O’Connor was the losing pitcher for Sheldon Clark.
