Darrell Thomas “Baby Red” Adkins, 52, of Peter Fork, McCarr, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at his residence following a lingering illness.

Born Feb. 26, 1956, at Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ruth Blackburn Adkins.

He was a disabled truck driver and attended the Lynn Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lockard Adkins of McCarr; sons David Lee Adkins and Darrell Kevin Adkins of McCarr; brothers Richard (Linda) Adkins of McCarr and Wetzel (Kathy) Adkins of Ransom, Ky.; sisters Sue Lockard of McCarr and Teresa (Tommy) Wolford of Ransom, Ky.; a half sister, Melissa Adkins of Ashland, Ky.; his very special grandchildren, Jonnika Stump, Preston Stump, and Blake Adkins; his very special friends, Lynn Stump and Jennifer Joyce; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday; January 22, 2009, at the Lynn Freewill Baptist Church at Lynn with Freewill Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the family cemetery at Peter Fork, McCarr, Ky.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, and Wednesday, Jan 21, 2009, at the church.
