The Pirates were led by the 18 point performance of Andrew Elkins followed with 1t by Corey Coleman and 10 by Jeremy Maynard. Tolsia was led by Jacob Copley with 13. Belfry exploded on the Rebels in the fourth quarter , outscoring them 23 to 11 to cruise to the win.
The third game saw a match-up that is not seen that often inthe form of Matewan against Pike Central. This was a high scoring affair as Brandon Burgraff scored 32 points for the Tigers to lead them to victory. Most importantly was the fact that in the fourth quarter alone, Burgraff was 9 of 15 from the foul line which sealed the victory for Phillip Mitchell’s Tigers.
The fourth game of the night was a nip and tuck battle between Spring Valley and Tug Valley and came down to to the last second shot by Channing Preece for Tug Valley. This shot was the source of controversy after the game as many in the arena, including Tug Valley Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson felt that a foul should have been called on the shot, which was missed by Preece. Had the foul been called, Preece would have went to the foul line to shoot three shots which, if made, would have tied the game with no time remaining in regulation and would have forced overtime. With the foul not being called, the game ended with Spring Valley going home with the three point win 57 to 54. Preece paced the Panthers with 17 p[points for the game while Austin Vance had 15. Nathan Hedrick led Spring Valley with 22.
The final game of the event saw two West Virginia Class AAA powers collide in the form of South Charleston and Logan. This game was a fast paced physical contest tat saw the Number One ranked South Charleston Black Eagles take home the 62 to 56 win over the Logan Wildcats. Aaron Dobson led the Black Eagles with 20 while Jonathan Bevins put in 23 for the Wildcats in a losing effort.
