PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The end of 2011 was apparently not the end of a string of fires that have been taking place near the City of Pikeville.

On Dec. 31, at around 12:47 a.m., the Pikeville 911 Public Safety Center received a complaint of a trailer fire on Fife Fork Road. The Pikeville Fire Department responded to the scene, finding the trailer fully engulfed in flames upon arrival.

According to a press release from the Public Safety Center, this is the fourth structure fire in a neighborhood of vacant trailers, dating back to April 2011.

Both the Pikeville Fire and Police Departments are currently investigating all four of the structure fires, due to the proximity of the trailers and the fact that they were vacant when they caught fire.

As of presstime, the causes of the fires have not been released.

Anyone who lives in the Fife Fork Road area is asked to report any suspicious activity observed in the neighborhood. Also, anyone who has information regarding the previous fires are asked to call the 911 Public Safety Center at (606) 437-5111.
