This year is going to be filled with attempts by liberals to bust the budget, raise taxes on all Americans and increase our dependency on the federal government.
President-elect Obama’s grassroots team is geared up to lobby Congress on his behalf for these liberal policies, and freedom-loving citizens are the only ones who can stop them.
Now that the politicians are back in Washington, they are ready to get back to work taking more taxpayer dollars and spending the money on bailouts, government health care and special interest pork. President-elect Barack Obama is in town and has been meeting with leading liberals on Capitol Hill to plan their agenda for 2009. The only thing that can stop this far left agenda is an uprising of popular opposition from the American people.
To that end, we must send a message to our Congress members about health care and taxes.
One of the first proposals that the liberals are pushing is a serious step toward government-run health care.
The liberals in Congress will be trying to do this through a massive expansion of the SCHIP program, which would increase taxes on smokers to pay for government-run health care.
They are preparing for action on this bill now so that it is ready for Barack Obama to sign as soon as he gets into office.
Whether you are a smoker or not, this proposed expansion of SCHIP is a threat to our fundamental liberties as it moves people from the private health care market to being more and more dependent on the government.
Effectively, this is nothing more than a backdoor to Canadian-style socialized medicine.
And because cigarette taxes are historically unreliable sources of revenue that never bring in the money that politicians promise, you can bet that once this latest proposed tax hike fails to adequately fund the massive expansion of SCHIP taxpayers will wind up getting stuck with the bill.
I agree with Dick Armey of the Freedomworks.org “In order to make our health care system better, we need more competition and medical malpractice reform, not higher taxes and more government interference in markets.”
Please send a message to Senators Rockefeller and Byrd, Congressional representatives, Rahall, Mollo-han, and Capito and tell them we will not sit idly by while our money is confiscated and wasted by politicians and bureaucrats in Washington. Let’s make a statement that we will resist the move toward socialism, which starts with the battle against expanding SCHIP and leading us down the road to government-run health care.
Sincerely,
