The Pike County Board of Education selected Belfry area School Board Member Bobby Varney to lead the board as its Chairman for the next year, during a special called meeting on January 6.

The Pike County Board of Education selected Belfry area School Board member Bobby Varney to lead the board as its Chairman for the next year, during a special called meeting on January 6.
Virgie area Board Member Virgil Osborne was elected as Vice-Chair. The board will continue to conduct its regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Before Tuesday’s special meeting, newly re-elected Board Members J.C. Chaney, Frank McGuire and Earl Thacker were sworn into office by Pike District Judges Steve Combs, Eddy Coleman and Larry Thompson respectively.
Bobby Varney presided over the first meeting of the Pike County Board of Edu-cation after being elected to a one-year term as Chairman.
