Eckman Blankenship, 94 of Stopover, Ky. passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 at his home.

Born April, 8, 1916 in West Virginia, the son of the late Miles Blankenship and the late Lucinda Cline Blankenship.In addition to his parents, Eckman was preceded in death by daughter, Fredia Smith; sons: Ray; Lester; and Donnie Blankenship; three grandchilfren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother.

He was a prep plant worker in the coal mining industry. Eckman was also a member of the Mt. Zion Old Regular Baptist Church.

He is survived by his spouse: Sylvia Prater Blankenship, married 70 years, of Stopover, Ky.

sons:: Walter (Stella)Blankenship of Mohawk; Ralph(Mella Dee) Blankenship of Pikeville, Ky.; daughters: Beatrice Dotson of PawPaw, Va.; Eleanor (Ronald) Smith of Majestic, Ky.; Linda (Larry) Wolford of Stopover, Ky.; Marilyn (Michael) Justus of Tazwell, Va.; sisters: Essie Hardin of Welch; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Phelps Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Danny Hurley and others officiating.

Burial will follow in the Blankenship Family Cemetery at Stopover, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will begin receiving Friends on Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 6 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 18 at the funeral home chapel with special services each night at 7 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phelps Funeral Services, Inc. of Phelps, Ky.

We haven't had a paper at Baisden, (Gilbert Creek) in over a week. What is the problem.
