By Lil Felixlfelix@civitasmedia.comMAHER - Local law enforcement officers with the U.S. 119 Drug Task Force received a credible tip that led to the apprehension of two drug suspects in the Maher area on Friday.The information obtained regarded heroin being transported into Mingo County from Logan County.Officers of the Task Force quickly located and tracked the suspects’ vehicle from Logan County to an undisclosed location in Maher. Reinforcements from the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police moved into position in Maher to assist the Task Force.The two male suspects, Franklin Derrick Maynard of Chapmanville and Jason Hatfield of Hardy, Kentucky, were apprehended and searched.

This week’s opponent for the Mingo Central Miners (4-0) has been a Class 2A power in recent years. The Wayne Pioneers won back-to-back championships in 2011 and 2012.
