Supreme Court upholds Tennant in ballot issue

By Ron Gregoryronjgregory.comCHARLESTON — The state Supreme Court has agreed with Secretary of State Natalie Tennant that the voters of Mingo County should have no say in selecting their next Family Court Judge.In fact, late Wednesday, the governor’s office confirmed that Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin had appointed Sabrina Deskins to fill the unexpired term that was left when former Family Court judge Miki Thompson was appointed to the unexpired term of former Mingo Circuit judge Michael Thornsbury. Deskins had been recommended by the state Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission earlier in the week.

 

Gilbert gets sidewalk funds
