Through prosperous and lean days in the Tug Valley, the Williamson Daily News has faithfully served its readers, bringing local, state, national and global news to area doorsteps.

This daily newspaper more than holds its own with other publications in the region and annually receives press association awards from both West Virginia and Kentucky.
The Williamson Daily News is part of a 25-newspaper group operated by Heartland Publications, located in Clinton, Conn.

The Williamson Daily News traces its role as guardian of the interests of the areas citizens back to 1912 when the newspaper was established by Thomas B. Garner. This veteran newsman, editor, and community leader actually operated one of the first newspapers The Southern west Virginian a weekly paper, before and after 1900.

In its many years of existence, the Daily News has sought to protect the rights of the people, to give its readers a balanced and fair account of what goes on in this area and elsewhere in the world.
