WILLIAMSON — The administration of the Williamson Memorial Hospital (WMH) has welcomed Dr. Madan Reddy, an Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine to their staff, and they feel that his field of expertise will greatly serve the residents of the Tug Valley area.

Dr. Reddy originally hails from India, and also spent 12 years in England before coming to the U.S. He was employed as a physician in Boston and in Minneapolis before making the move to Southern WV.

“I liked Williamson because it is a small, friendly town,” stated the physician. “I prefer that type of atmosphere over a large city, and I also like the changing of seasons here better than the rainy, chilly weather of England.”

Dr. Reddy commented on the need for sports injury prevention programs to be implemented in the local school systems, and feels that his experience of working with professional and college level athletes will allow him to successfully achieve that goal. The sports medicine specialist has already scheduled appointments to meet with the athletic directors at Mingo Central High School, and plans to do the same with other middle and high schools in the Tug Valley area.

The surgeon stated that he is pleased to accommodate the local residents with orthopedic services, commenting that he knows that in the past few years, anyone who experienced a bone injury had to travel to Pikeville, Ky. or to Logan County to receive treatment.

“I am happy to be able to offer orthopedic specialty care right here in Williamson, for those who need it.”

Dr. Reddy and his wife, who is finishing up her fellowship in radiology in Boston, are the parents of two children, a daughter who is 13 and a 7 year-old son. His family will be joining him following the conclusion of the 2012-2013 school terms.

The “Tug Valley Orthopedics” office is located at 183 E. 2nd Avenue in Williamson, sharing an office with Dr. Jospeh, a WMH general surgeon. His hours of operation are Mon. thru Thurs., from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. until noon. To schedule an apt., you may call 304-899-3404.
