WILLIAMSON - A Mingo County teacher pleaded not guilty to charges of abuse.
James Hiram Keatley II, a football and basketball coach at Matewan Middle School, pleaded not guilty in Mingo County Circuit Court Tuesday to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of battery against one student, and one count of sexual abuse against another student, both under 16-years-old.
Judge Michael Thornsbury set Keatley’s bond at $48,000. He was placed on home confinement and ordered to have no contact with persons under 18-years of his age, other than family. Thornsbury said he will undergo random drug screenings.
Keatley’s trial was scheduled for Oct. 29.
