Motorcycle club conducting toy drive

SIDNEY, Ky. — Nothing melts the heart more than a child in need, and the members of the Appalachian Brotherhood Motorcycle Club are no exception. The bikers have served up Thanksgiving dinners to shut-ins and those in need for the past two years and are gearing up for their 2nd Annual Toy Drive that will benefit children in the Tug Valley area.

The “Appalachian Brotherhood Community Outreach Projects” is a non-profit organization formed by the group that is utilized for charitable events sponsored by members of the motorcycle club. Paul Price, the Public Relations Officer for the group told the Daily News that due to the decline in the local economy, the need to raise additional funding to purchase toys is a definite reality.

“We know that we can’t take care of all of the children in our local area who are in need of a helping hand this year, but our goal is to bring a smile to as many faces as we possibly can. In order for that to happen, we need the public’s help,” stated Price.

“Christmas is all about the little ones, and it breaks our heart to think that there will be children who wake up that morning with no presents from Santa under the tree. We want to do everything we can to prevent this from happening for as many kids as possible.”

Today from 9 a.m. until well into the afternoon, the Appalachian Brotherhood will be conducting roadblocks at the Walmart intersection and the entrance to the Southside Mall off of U.S. 119 at Goody, Ky., and will be accepting monetary donations as well as new, unwrapped toys. The group will continue to accept donations through Monday, Dec. 19th.

If you would like to donate money or a new toy to the Appalachian Brotherhood Toy Drive, you may contact Paul Price at 606-625-6850 or Debra Chafins at 606-969-6640 to arrange a drop-off or pick-up location.

“Please stop by and donate to us today as you’re out shopping on Black Friday,” said Price. “It doesn’t matter how much you can afford to give, there’s never an amount that’s too little or too great. It all adds up and every penny will be used toward purchasing Christmas gifts for children who find themselves less fortunate than others.”
