WILLIAMSON - Numerous arrests have occurred over the past few days within Mingo County, with police agencies taking defendants into custody on a variety of charges including DUI, obstructing an officer and domestic battery.
Jordan Lee Paige, 21, of Vinson Street, was placed under arrest on charges of domestic battery, disorderly conduct and consuming alcohol in a public place by Williamson City Police (WPD) Officers Sgt. J. Hall, Jr. and Patrolman J.L. Marcum and J.F. Taylor III, after they responded to complaint of a male beating a woman in front of the Living Waters Church on 2nd Ave. in Williamson.
Upon arrival, the officers discovered Paige in an altercation with Marcus Thomas, who witnesses say stepped in to prevent the defendant from inflicting more injury on his ex-girlfriend. Paige was placed in the back of Hall’s cruiser while statements were being taken from the victim and those who witnessed the incident, and is said to have begun screaming and yelling, and repeatedly bashed his head against the cruiser window.
Marcum interviewed the female victim, Jamie Domosley, and was informed she had filed an emergency protection order against Paige earlier in the week after she had ended the relationship with him. Domosley told the officer she had been at a local club with friends and stated that the defendant had also came in, and tried to talk her into leaving with him. The victim chose to not do so and this is when Paige reportedly began screaming at her, accusing her of being with someone else.
After leaving the club, Domosley stated Paige caught up with her outside the church and allegedly struck her in the face, grabbed her arms and slammed her against the side of the brick building several times before Thomas pulled him off of her.
The defendant was transported to the W.P.D. for booking and processing before he was taken to the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden. He was administered a Portable Breathalyzer Test (PBT), which he is said to have failed.
Paige was video arraigned by Mingo County Chief Magistrate Dallas Toler who set bond at $1,100.
Robert Alfred Harris, 41, of Wharncliffe, was arrested on charges of 2 counts of domestic battery and 2 counts of obstructing an officer, by Mingo County Sheriff’s (MCSD) Deputies M.J. Miller and R. Fitch after responding to a 911 call made by his wife, who relayed to the dispatcher that the defendant had choked her and her 15 year-old son.
The criminal complaint states that Harris allegedly grabbed his wife, Ginger Michelle Harris, by the throat and choked her. After throwing her to the ground, he allegedly repeated the same action against the juvenile, physically picking him up off of the ground while squeezing his neck with a clenched hand.
While attempting to take Harris into custody, the officers stated that he began resisting arrest, and was said to have been yelling and cursing, screaming profanity at the deputy. The defendant allegedly told the officers “you are going to have to kill me before I will go with you”, and further relayed that if they would take the cuffs off of him, he would “whip both of their asses”.
Harris was arraigned before Magistrate Dee Sidebottom and was issued a $20,000 bail. The defendant remains incarcerated in the SWRJA, pending his preliminary hearing.
Nina M. Strunk, 20, of Williamson, was arrested by Williamson Patrolman J.F. Taylor III on a capias warrant that was issued against the defendant after she failed to appear in court on Sept. 27 to answer a charge of prostitution.
Strunk was remanded to jail on a $5,000 bond where she remains at present time.
James H. Marcum, 43, of Inez, Ky., was taken into custody by MCSD Deputy M.J. Miller on charges of expired registration, DUI and no proof of insurance after investigating a complaint at the Forest Place Apartments in East Kermit.
Marcum failed the sobriety tests administered by Miller and registered a blood alcohol content of .143, nearly twice the legal limit set by the state of WV. The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate Toler who issued a bond of $1,500 on the charges.
Kenneth Wayne Hall, 46, of Naugatuck and Andrew Maynard, 49, of Lenore, were arrested by MCSD Cpl. P. Muncy after they allegedly stole several items from the work site at Maher of Falcon Enterprise, LLC, valued at approximately $7,000.
Both defendants were charged with one count each of grand larceny and were issued a $1,500 bond by Magistrate Toler.
