WILLIAMSON — A Monday afternoon accident occurred on U.S. 119 at the four-way intersection near at the cut-thru in Williamson that sent one driver to the hospital and the other shaken.

According to Williamson Patrolman Darry Paige, the accident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. and involved a 2013 Ford Explorer Sport driven by Brandon Vance of Lenore, and a Chevrolet Traverse operated by Robin Griffey, of Williamson.

Both drivers told the officer they had a green light when entering the intersection, Vance traveling north toward Logan and Griffey traveling on U.S. 52 to the West End community. There were no eye witnesses on scene who observed the crash that resulted in moderate to severe damage to both SUVs. No citations have been issued thus far, according to Paige.

Griffey was transported from the accident scene by paramedics with STAT Ambulance to a local hospital and complained with pain in her chest, neck and back. Vance suffered no apparent injuries. The Williamson Fire Department responded to the accident with a truck and ambulance and assisted with patient care and traffic control. Duba’s Wrecker service removed the disabled vehicles from the roadway. The accident remains under investigation.
