WILLIAMSON - Mingo County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Joe Smith released information regarding an individual, thought to be in the Mingo County area, who is wanted for thefts from the Walmart Super Centers in South Charleston and Logan, and in a home burglary in the Lenore area.

Smith received information that David Lee Bumgarner, the suspect, whose last known address was listed as Mill Creek in Logan County, was being sought by officers in Kanawha and Logan Counties for felony thefts from the two department stores that total over $1,700. The items stolen included a 46-inch flat-screen television, a Coleman Canopy and a 32-inch television set. He is also accused of damaging a $400 laptop computer that was left behind in his haste to make a getaway.

Bumgarner, no stranger to local law enforcement, has been incarcerated in the Southwestern Regional Jail, in Holden, numerous times. Most of the criminal offenses against him involve theft and drug related charges.

There are three active felony warrants against the fugitive at this time, and, according to Smith, more charges may be added as the investigations continue.

Bumgarner was last seen driving a 2002 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee, that is said to have damage to the rear of the vehicle which could possibly include a busted window. The license plate number is West Virginia NJY-124. He may be accompanied by a female companion.

If anyone sees this vehicle, they are asked to immediately contact Smith at the MCSD at 304-235-0300, or call the local 911 service. For the safety of the public, Smith stressed to not approach or make contact with Bumgarner. Allow law enforcement to handle the matter as there’s no way of knowing what the defendant’s reaction might be.
