ELK CREEK — Although the investigation into the exact cause of a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Elk Creek in the Delbarton community is still underway, preliminary reports by the deputy on scene states that a citation will be issued to one driver for reasons of failure to maintain control.
Mingo County 911 received a report of a head-on collision between two pickup trucks at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Mingo County Sheriff’s (MCSD) Deputy K. Ball was dispatched to the scene and told the Daily News that although all the facts regarding this wreck had not been gathered, what he knows at this time is that Ransom Endicott, from Delbarton, was operating a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 when he allegedly lost control, went into a ditch and upon re-entering the roadway, crossed the center line and collided with a 1994 GMC 1500 driven by Jess Riley Justice, III.
Both vehicles are considered a total loss, and Endicott was transported by Mingo County Emergency Services to Williamson Memorial Hospital for injuries he sustained. Endicott suffered a laceration to his forehead during the mishap. Justice refused medical treatment at the scene and was advised to seek medical assistance if he should develop any unusual symptoms.
The Delbarton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident with approximately 10 firefighters and EMT’s, and performed scene cleanup and traffic control. Two wrecker trucks were dispatched to remove the disabled vehicles from the roadway.
