This Chevrolet Gladiator Van and Toyota Tacoma truck were involved in a collision Monday afternoon at the cut-thru on U.S. 119 in Williamson. Both drivers had to transported to area hospitals to receive treatment for injuries they sustained. No citations have been tendered thus far in the investigation, pending statements from those involved.

WILLIAMSON — A Monday afternoon accident sent the drivers of both vehicles involved to hospital emergency rooms, following a collision at the cut-thru on U.S. Rt. 119, which has been the location of numerous wrecks over the period of a few months.
The Williamson Fire Department (WFD), Police Department (WPD) and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and discovered two males with injuries. According to information provided by Williamson Police Patrolman J. Marcum, Ernest Ray Lockhart II, of Chattaroy, was traveling South on U.S. Rt. 119 in a Chevrolet Gladiator Express Van when his vehicle collided with a Toyota Tacoma truck operated by Troy Canterbury Sr., of Williamson, that was said to have been turning north onto W. 3rd Avenue from the northbound lane of 119. Both vehicles experienced moderate to severe damage and had to be towed from the crash site.
An eye witness at the scene was questioned as to what he observed, but the official police report will not be completed until full statements are taken from both drivers. Lockhart, who told the Daily News he had a green light, was transported to the Pikeville Medical Center for treatment after telling medics that he had recently undergone pacemaker surgery and was struck in the chest by the driver’s side airbag that deployed upon impact. Canterbury was taken to the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital where he received treatment for lacerations to his head and neck. Both drivers were said to have been wearing their seatbelts.
The WFD and STAT Ambulance transported the patients and also performed traffic control and scene clean-up.
