CHARLESTON — More than 70 students, teachers and administrators from the Kermit K-8 School visited the State Capitol complex Tuesday to learn more about the legislative process. Delegates Justin Marcum (D-Mingo) and
H.K. White (D-Mingo) were on hand to welcome the students into the House Chamber.
“It’s always encouraging to see kids interested in the lawmaking process,” Marcum said, “Learning about local government is extremely important and I’m glad that I was able to help.”
The trip was planned by the school in coordination with Marcum and White. The students spent the day touring the Capitol and were introduced during the House floor session.
“I’m glad Delegate Marcum and I were able to work something out with the school to bring these kids here,” White said, “Getting to see the legislative process in motion is something I urge everyone to do.”
The students that made the trip were able to watch the legislature vote on a number of bills in the House of Delegates chamber.
