WILLIAMSON - On Monday, Aug. 6, a ribbon-cutting and grand opening was held at 28 E. 2nd Avenue in Williamson, at the location of the Marcum Law Office, Esq., Attorney at Law.

Assistant Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney Marcum, who also serves as the WV 20th District House of Delegate Representative, is now open for business and states that although he’s been practicing law for well over a year now, this is his first venture into the world of private practice.

Marcum, who is a life-long resident of the Chattaroy/Nolan community, graduated from Williamson High School in 2002 and then elected to first attend Mayo Technical College in Prestonsburg, Ky., where he received an electrical mining certification and worked for a short period of time in that capacity before enrolling at WVU, then transferred to Marshall University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance. The delegate then was accepted to the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Va., where he graduated from in April of 2011, passing the WV State Bar Association.

During his summers off from Marshall, Marcum worked for Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney C. Michael Sparks as a law clerk, and was employed by the office as an asst. prosecutor shortly after passing the bar.

He was appointed to the 20th District House of Delegate seat by WV Governor Earl Ray Tomblin following the resignation of former Delegate Steve Kominar who now serves as the Mingo County Redevelopment Authority Director. Marcum was successful in defeating his democratic opponents during the May Primary in that race, and hopes to retain the seat following the November General Election.

Marcum specializes in civil cases including family law, divorce, child custody and support, deeds, wills, auto accidents, personal injury and wrongful death, as well as several other fields of expertise.

The hours of operation for the newly opened office will be Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 304-235-1475, and walk-in’s are also welcome.

“I look forward to serving the legal needs of my friends, neighbors and constituents in the local area, and I also invite everyone to stop by and visit us at our new location to get better acquainted,” stated Marcum.
